I have made this pie for Christmas Eve gatherings since my teens and it always gets rave reviews from kids and grownups alike. One year I even stashed a piece for myself in the back of the fridge so I could have a little holiday treat after the hustle settled down.

Ingredients

  • Pre-made graham cracker crust: makes this dessert unbelievably easy without baking. Look for one that feels sturdy with no cracks
  • Cream cheese softened: forms the creamy backbone. Use full-fat for best texture and let it warm to room temp for smooth blending
  • Powdered sugar: gives sweetness and dissolves smoothly into the filling
  • Heavy whipping cream: creates a light airy mousse texture in the pie
  • Peppermint extract: brings that classic wintry minty zing. Choose real extract not imitation
  • Crushed candy canes: provide sparkle and crunch throughout. Use fresh ones for vibrant color and lively peppermint taste
  • Mini marshmallows: add pockets of soft sweetness and extra fun for kids
  • Red food coloring: gives a swirl of holiday cheer. Gel food color gives stronger hue without watering down the filling
  • Whipped cream: makes a fluffy snowy finish on top. I usually make my own with leftover heavy cream but canned works well
